How To Use Raptor Solar to Support Module Serial Scanning
Raptor Solar supports exporting your solar site's digital twin to a spreadsheet for collecting module serial number data.
Overview
Raptor Solar can generate a spreadsheet of your site’s digitized module equipment, organized to make field scanning of module serial numbers efficient and accurate.
The export is a ready-to-use workbook that mirrors your site’s digital twin, with a separate sheet for each circuit block (inverter block). It optionally includes row-path guides that show the most efficient walking path through each block.
Who is this for? Anyone preparing to capture or verify module serial numbers in the field — for example, during commissioning, warranty tracking, or inventory reconciliation.
Before You Begin
- Your site must be digitized. The export is generated from your site’s digital twin. If your site has not yet been digitized, submit a site digitization order first.
- It’s recommended that scans be performed with a mobile device running Excel for Mobile and a Bluetooth connected barcode scanner. Raptor Maps highly recommends running Excel for Mobile on an Android device for faster scanning.
Where to Find the Export
The export is available in the Site Dashboard for each solar site in your account. Simply navigate to the Site Dashboard by selecting the site from the Solar Sites list on the left navigation bar.

Selecting your site from the Solar Sites list.
How to Export
- Navigate to the Site Dashboard for the site you wish to scan serial numbers for.
- In the top-right control panel, select the three-vertical-dot icon (the kebab menu).
- Select Export → Module Serial Numbers XLSX.

Export → Module Serial Numbers XLSX in the Site Dashboard menu.
- In the dialog that opens, choose whether to Include visualizations (PNG row-path charts). This toggle is on by default. Leave it on to receive the walking-path guides, or turn it off for a smaller download containing only the spreadsheet.
- Submit the dialog. You’ll see a confirmation message notifying that the export has started. When the export is ready, you’ll receive an email with a download link. Download your file from that link.

Note: The download link expires about 12 hours after it’s sent. If your link has expired, simply run the export again. Larger sites take longer to generate, especially with visualizations enabled.
What’s in the Export
Your download is a .zip file containing:
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| XLSX workbook | One spreadsheet with a separate sheet for each circuit block. On each sheet, the rows are ordered to follow the most efficient walking path through that block, and module columns are grouped in sets of five for easy navigation. |
| Row-path guides (PNG) | If you left visualizations on, the zip also includes one image per circuit block illustrating the recommended walking sequence — the same column order shown on that block’s sheet. |

Each circuit block is its own tab in the workbook.

A row-path guide showing the walking sequence for a circuit block.
Using the Spreadsheet in the Field
- Work one circuit block at a time, using the matching sheet in the workbook.
- Follow the row order from the guide path file — it already reflects the shortest walking route for that block. Use the guide path file for that block as a visual map - columns in the data entry spreadsheet follow the guide path sequence.
- Enter serial numbers in the unlocked cells only. The sheets are protected so the structure stays intact; the serial-number cells are the only ones you can edit, and they’re formatted as text so leading zeros and long numbers are preserved exactly as scanned. The cells are also formatted to flag duplicates by highlighting them in red.
Submitting Your Completed Scans
Once you’ve finished scanning, email your completed spreadsheet to support@raptormaps.com so the serial numbers can be ingested into your site’s digital twin.
Self-serve upload of completed serial numbers is on our roadmap. Until then, our team will handle ingestion for you.
Troubleshooting
- I didn’t receive an email. Check your spam folder. Large sites can take several minutes to generate. If the export fails, you’ll receive an email describing what happened and pointing you to support.
- My download link doesn’t work. Links expire about 12 hours after they’re sent — run the export again to get a fresh link.
- I don’t see the export option. Confirm your site is digitized and that you have export access. If it still doesn’t appear, contact support@raptormaps.com.
