# DJI Mavic 3 Thermal Advanced (M3TA) Flight Guidelines

## Flight guidelines for inspecting solar farms with a DJI M3TA.

The M3TA is a solar industry work horse equipped with multiple cameras including a wide-angle RGB, zoom, and 640x512 radiometric thermal camera. The portability and versatility of this aircraft makes it a prime candidate for solar inspections.

Improvements: **The M3TA has a much longer thermal camera focal length allowing it to get similar thermal data to the M3T at a much longer distance.** The M3TA has an interval capture rate of 0.7 seconds which allows faster capture speeds and shorter mission times compared to its predecessors (DJI M30T, M300, and M350).

### Aircraft Specs

- **Cameras**:

    - Wide RGB (½’ CMOS 48MP)
    - Zoom Camera (up to 56x hybrid zoom)
    - Thermal Camera: 640x512 px, radiometric
- **Capture Speed**:

    - 0.7 seconds interval capture
- **Flight Planning Software:**

    - DJI Pilot 2 (Built in)

### Data Capture Flight Standards

| **Type of Inspection** | **Raptor Overview** | **Raptor Standard** | **Raptor Comprehensive** |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| GSD | 15.0 cm/px (+-5.0) | 5.5 cm/px (+-0.5) | 3.0 cm/px (+-0.5) |
| Maximum Speed | 33 mph  15 m/s/ | 30 mph - 13.4 ms | 17 mph - 7.6 ms |
| Altitude | 400 ft +- 27 ft (122 m +- 8.2 m) | 206 ft +- 18 ft (62.8 m +- 5.4 m) | 112 ft +- 18 ft (34.0 m +- 5.4 m) |

**Thermal Setting Adjustments**:

- Color Palette: White Hot
- Gain Setting: Low Gain (0-550)

    - **Do Not Use** 'High-Res' (omits radiometric data)
- UHR: **Turn off** (ensures native 640x512 IR resolution)
- 30 mph  13.4 m/s/
- Front Overlap - 65%
- Side Overlap - 35%

Please review all applicable local and federal laws before conducting commercial sUAS operations at various altitudes.
